Cappuccino Cost – $3.30
Was recommended this place for brekky’s so hey why not try the coffee as well so off we troddled to Hawker Street. Ordered a cappuccino and a ristretto.
The cappuccino (as pictured below) had good presentation. Happy to see that when chocolate powder is used, it is done in a visually attractive way and my cappuccino shows that. The froth taste was ok, with a creamy and silky taste/mouth feel, it came across in a way it is supposed to. The coffee taste was the real winner in this cup, it was really attractive with a chocolately after taste and good all around balance. Good stuff.
The ristretto as below was to watery and to much in the cup. Taste was pretty harsh, acrid – really undrinkable. I still have that taste in my mouth writing this an hour or so later, not nice. If someone was introduced to ristretto’s for the first time and had this, they would never try one again.
The coffee in the cappuccino was very nice, the best part of today’s 2 coffee’s. They have only recently started using La Crema’s coffee beans and it shone brightly in that cap.

Perhaps the barista was trying to enhance your ristretto experience by pouring you a double as you can see by the marks on either side of the cup.
I can honestly say that I have never had a watery ristretto from HSC. The delicious ristretto is merely the tip of the iceberg on this magnificent, homely, well percolated cafe.
