The Big Table

Week 12 of 52

Beans – 5 senses, 24/7 blend

Cappuccino cost – $3.50

Ristretto Cost – $3.50

Milk – Pura Cafe

Wanted to have coffee here the week before but couldn’t get a chair stool so we came back the following week and bingo – we saw a gap and ran for it… got 3 stools. yay. Gawd the things we do.  Ristretto and cappuccino is what I had today.

The cappuccino froth was dense and creamy, the way it should be although a bit more would of been better suited for this type of drink and look, i’m not a fan of chocolate sprinkles, particularly when its just thrown over the top as you can see in the photo – give us a different presentation, there are other, better options. After I had finished the froth I start to drink the coffee – wow, this is good coffee i’m thinking. Watching the barista guy freshly grind coffee to order for his customer is good to see, your not getting coffee here that was ground 3 hours ago, or 30 mins ago, its done to order, and that is the way it should be and it shows in the end result. Milk was fine, it wasnt overly rich nor was it a plain-jane milk, just right for the cappuccino i had.

Cappuccino and The Big Table

Ristretto’s I usually dread ordering, but i’m always hopeful and particularly here at The Big Table, after just drinking good coffee from my cappuccino – is the ristretto going to be the same? Well, I loved it. After a disaster at the previous place I had coffee, its appreciated to be served good coffee again… a smooth, subtle chocolate easy drinking coffee this one. I got so excited, I ordered another one. You know, coffee can bring out the 7 year old in me.

I must also just point out that my other half had 2 latte’s here, and she rarely has 2 coffee’s so for her to do that the coffee has to be pretty darn good. I liked this place, read a newspaper, drink coffee, eat something or watch the world go by – its worth dropping by.

  1. One of my fav places to go at the market. Just a quick one though what do people think of the price… Flat rate for both coffees. I personally think charging 3.50 for a ristretto is a bit steep. Any thoughts?

  2. Yep the ristretto price is a bit much, however if they can make one, then i’ll pay that price. Beggers cant be choosers because we dont have many places in Adelaide than can make one, so i’ll pay.

  3. yep it is hard to get a seat at the big table, have been there quite a few times,is great on a friday night or saturday morning…..Very popular

The place has an atmosphere thats for sure…….there food is tasty too!

  4. Yep we were there on late Saturday morning. Couldnt believe it when we saw all those bare stools, glad we went.

Got something to say?
