Milk – Tweedvale.
Beans – ‘Black Label Blend’ roasted by 5 senses
There is really a vast difference in the coffee you get across Adelaide, mostly average or below par and what a dreadful cup I had at the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel in Adelaide earlier today. You know the sound of the milk frothing, well I could hear it from some distance and together with a buildup, here is what it sounded like (<—click for sound). Not what you want to hear and when you do you can be guaranteed to be in trouble and I was.
Fortunately this isnt the sort of horrid milk frothing sounds or coffee you get at Bar9 which is whom this blog post is about.
I arrived at Bar9, placed my order and watched the guys behind the bench turn out the variety of coffee’s that folks ordered and sure I was hopefull of something good here, you get a feeling that they know what they are doing.
Latte was my order as pictured above and as you can see its already gained good marks through presentation.
Like a slow caressing intimate time with your other half, slowly, skillfull and oh, without making the love session sound to descriptive, also throw in a subtle nutty taste and a bit of caramel and there you have the coffee I drank. All round good balance and something lovely, rich and enjoyable to drink and no doubt the tweedvale milk they used contributed towards this.
What I liked about Bar9 is the obvious love for making coffee, you dont get that in many coffee shops in Adelaide, you really dont and it shows in the end result.

EnjoyIng your blog keep up the good work coffee branch is worth trying out
Matt i’ve added coffee branch to my ongoing list. Thanks for posting.
My husband and I tried Bar 9 for the first time today, and we have to say – it was very disappointing, given the fabulous reviews they’ve had! Our cappucinos were too milky and almost tasteless, and the foam was runny and weak. We had to wait ages for our coffees, and the atmosphere was rowdy and crowded – not the sort of place you can relax with your coffee. A load of hype over nothing, we think!
