Week 1 of 52:
So a warm Sunday arvo takes me to Norwood. Gloria Jeans Coffee shop – Cappuccino, small please, i asked for. I dont like large coffees, mugs, gallons, tons or whatever other size they offer i prefer a small size, actually its regular, but dont get me started on sizes.
Not always a fan of brown covering ontop on cappuccino’s, sometimes the brown stuff can kill the delicate taste of the froth, but in this case it was rather nice. Seems they added some finely ground sugar to the cocoa or whatever brown stuff they used and was well balanced. I do however prefer to see a pattern and no sprinkles. Froth was good – creamy and thick and a good amount of it which is something i particularly like not like some cappuccino’s where the froth seemed an after-thought.
So after i sponge up the froth the coffee is next and this one was best described as like a ‘plane jane’ coffee, nothing over and above coffee aimed at the average person, a bit boring and a tad weak for my liking.
Norwood Mall, SA.
Always a good idea to leave yourself plenty of room for improvement … in the next 51 weeks hopefully you’ll try better coffee than GJ’s
I hear you Ric. I’ll be covering all sorts of places including those considered to have good coffee. I’m going for a bit of a mix though, after all 52 places is stretching it for whizz-bang coffee. Suggestions also very welcome.
Your going to have to retroactively rescore if your giving gj an 8…
I have decided to ditch the scores and just run with a blurb. Cheers for the input.
ok here are some more suggestions for you in no particular order
central market: lucias, perfect cup, big table, zuma
rundle street: felici, cocolat
pirie st : Fiefys
glenelg jetty road: europa, the strand
seaton: coffee barun
you should find a good mixture…..happy sipping!
also think its a good idea of yours to drop into a few franchises…..maybe cibo, hudsons, coffee club etc……you never know where you will discover coffee gold!
Hi Aaron, i’ll add your suggestions to the ‘about’ page, which aready has a couple of what you have said and yes i’ll be doing a few more a the franchises in due time. Cheers.
Good pic o the Capp where do you get that from?
And here i thought it was a crap photo. Just for the record all pics/vids have been done by me, and i think its obvious i’m no photo genius.
